your analogy is good except for one thing. the property taken by the modern-day thieves is not recovered. and while some are caught, many are not. the modern thieves are much more destructive than the failed thieves in the fable

I’ve got it , A Eureka moment. People who lose money in schemes don’t know that they have little to no hope of recovering anything. The essence of humanity is faith hope charity, the mystery, father, son and holy ghost. Everyone hopes, has faith and charity to believe that no one is so cruel as to present them with absolute blatant theft, so they expect and pray for some sort of recovery. Unfortunately, the perpetrator, typically has zero charity and no intention of them getting anything back unless he or she is forced. So free will is removed and God smites his holy righteous wrath. So, enter the pyramid and the all-seeing eye. Now we are heading towards 666. The end result the apocalypse and the riders go forth across the earth. Gave me a few ideas.

Like a skilled lawyer arbitrating, collecting the data and listening to and studying all the relevant information, then rendering a qualified opinion. Without the human lawyer, there would be no colour and less depth to the opinion. Possibly even an incorrect verdict as a result.
I believe people are trying to create ai in the human notion because the world is dumbing down to the point where without ai help going forward. They will end up like children unable to comprehend the meaning of anything much becoming shallower and focussed on instant pleasure and gratification. So for a complex world to run they humans need help or they will become extinct rather quickly.

i see a sudden mass culling in human population, aided unwittingly by well meaning people like Mr Fauci. Using taxpayer funds to pay a Chinese lab in Wuhan to produce genetically modified material to enable the creation of vaccines for human health vaccines, obviously against virials of differentiae.. The lab used in Wuhan. Which by account is designed for this type of research. Rumours abound the lab in question also works to contribute genetic modification and viral weaponization for Chinese biological warfare program. Who would’ve guessed. I bet they focussed on the Pangolins {137 remaining members of a mammalian family which evolved directly from reptiles during the great extinction); as a result, became a mammalian, lizard, Armadillo, scaled creature, with unique properties. save the pangolins.
